Project Summary

FITZGERALDS CASINO EXPANSION AND ROHLING INN REBUILD

Black Hawk, Colorado

The project location is near the northwest corner of the intersection of Gregory Street and Main Street in Blackhawk , Colorado . Lyman Henn provided geotechnical design services for the project which involves expansion of the existing Fitgeralds Casino. The proposed expansion requires excavation into an existing soil and rock slope behind and north of the existing Fitzgeralds parking structure.

The project includes excavation of existing soil and rock south of the Rohling Inn and north of the existing Fitzgeralds Casino parking structure to create a level area behind the Rohling Inn at approximately the same elevation as the alleys to the east and west of the existing building. Excavated slopes will be supported using soil nails and shotcrete except along the alley west of the Rohling Inn where a combination of dry stack rock wall and a concrete gravity retaining wall and will be constructed.

Lyman Henn's design services were followed through with backfill compaction testing, concrete testing, mortar testing, grout testing, reinforcing steel inspection and geotechnical trouble-shooting during construction.
