WEINBACH
AVENUE STORM SEWER
Evansville,
Indiana
Lyman
Henn provided complete tunnel design and construction services for
this approximately 8,800-ft-long, 96-in. inside diameter reinforced
concrete pipe gravity storm sewer. Field investigation programs
were conducted to characterize subsurface conditions, which were
found to consist of cohesive glacial and alluvial clays or non-cohesive,
fine-grained sands. The tunnel was excavated using an Earth Pressure
Balance tunnel boring machine (EPBM), and the annular space between
the pipe and the tunnel initial support was backfilled with cellular
concrete. Project deliverables included a Design Criteria Report,
Geotechnical Data Report, Geotechnical Design Summary Report, plans,
and specifications. Construction-related services included review
of contractor submittals and a full-time construction manager and
chief tunnel inspector.
